HYDERABAD: Clad in Khaki, IPS officer from Rajasthan, Amit Lodha, was the odd-one-out at Sunday’s Ink conference held at Hitex. Amid a crowd of entrepreneurs, startup founders, investors, mentors, officials, foreign delegates and others, the IPS officer delivered an inspiring talk. This 1998-batch Bihar cadre IPS officer is showing that policing is not just about ‘power’ but bringing a ‘positive change’ in people’s life.

What made this IPS officer, presently serving as Inspector General of Police with Border Security Force at Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, become part of the Ink conference in Hyderabad.

“When Lakshmi Pratury of Ink conference asked me to deliver a talk, I said I would be the odd man out, but she persisted saying that I can be inspiring. I have always believed that being a police personnel is a blessing as it gives a lot of scope to serve people. Also, policing is not just about power but the ability to bring a positive change in people’s life,” said Amit, speaking to Express.

Amit has also come up with Bharatkeveer.gov.in portal to help the families of deceased personnel from Paramilitary forces. The web portal was launched to raise donations to help families of paramilitary forces personnel, who lost their lives on duty.

“Families of deceased personnel of paramilitary forces face lot of problems, as unlike Army and police, they are not financially protected. On the other hand there are lot of people who feel for the bravehearts who lose their life in the service of country.”

“The response so far has been heartening and till now over `27 crore has been collected from over 7 lakh people through the portal,” he said.
