Case filed against Ilaiah: AP cops to HC

HYDERABAD: AP police informed High Court on Thursday that a case against Kancha Ilaiah was registered at Kanigiri police station in Prakasam district, based on a complaint lodged by Vattsala, a resident of Pedda Gollapalli in the district, alleging that the professor had been creating enmity among  communities through his alleged remarks against Vysa the community in a recent book.The counsel for AP made a submission before justice Challa Kodandaram, who was dealing with a petition which sought declaration as illegal the inaction of Kanigiri police in registering a case against Ilaiah for his alleged provocation against a particular community.

The petitioner’s counsel submitted that Ilaiah published a book titled “Komatlu Samajika Smugglerlu” with an intention to insult people belonging to Vysya community. Prior to that, he had provoked Brahmin community which then lodged complaints and raised their voice against him. The AP counsel told the court that Kanigiri police had registered a case against Ilaiah based on the petitioner’s complaint. Police started investigation after registering an FIR, he said. After recording statement of AP’s counsel, judge closed petition.
