Crops across 18,000 hectares damaged due to recent rains

Standing crops in around 18,000 hectares were damaged due to recent rains in the current monsoon season.

HYDERABAD: Standing crops in around 18,000 hectares were damaged due to recent rains in the current monsoon season. According to preliminary reports available with Disaster Management officials, paddy and cotton crops were lost due to rains. The human loss in this season was 13. All the deaths were reported due to thunderbolts.

The enumeration in GHMC on possible losses to roads and other infrastructure was not reported yet to the Disaster Management. Meanwhile, the officials said that crops in around 50,000 acres were damaged before monsoon, when there were dry spells in the state. Revenue officials will convene a meeting on rain losses on Friday at Secretariat to get the estimate of the preliminary losses in the state.
