HYDERABAD: A first year MA student of the University of Hyderabad drowned in a water body inside the campus late  Thursday night. Akash Sen, hailing from Jharkhand, was pursuing MA in sociology.
According to available information, Akash along with a group of friends   were partying near Mushroom rock.  The party continued till late in the evening, when some of the students, including Akash who was reportedly in an inebriated state, decided to go for a swim.

Due to recent rains, one of the open quarries on the campus was filled with water and the students went out swimming, allegedly after consuming alcohol.  After swimming for a while, at around 10 pm, when the other students could not locate Akash, started searching for him. In about 15-20 minutes they found Akash’s body and dragged him out of water. The students tried to resuscitate him. Later they  shifted him to nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. Gachibowli police registered a case.
