TSPSC to hold Teacher Recruitment Test

The Telangana Government on Saturday issued a Government Order (GO) to facilitate direct recruitment for the posts of teachers.

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Government on Saturday issued a Government Order (GO) to facilitate direct recruitment for the posts of teachers. Earlier on October 10, it had issued a notification for recruitment of over 8,792 teacher for posts in pre-primary, primary, upper primary, secondary, senior secondary or intermediate schools and colleges of the state. In a first, the Teacher Recruitment Test (TRT) this time will be conducted by the TSPSC.    Recruitment will be done for posts like school assistants, language pandits and physical Education teachers among others in Government and local body schools like Zila Praja Parishad and mandal Praja Parishad schools of Telangana.

It may be noted that after a wait of three years, and several agitations from the youth and students bodies, the government had issued notification earlier this month. However, there is a likelihood that the number of posts will go up as currently there are no vacancies from the newly-formed districts. Meanwhile, only some aspirants have heaved a sigh of relief with the government initiating the recruitment process. Several like G Prashanth, fear TSPSC might not be able to do a fair job considering its recent record. “We hope it’s not a situation in which we fall from the fire to frying pan.

The TSPSC has a notorious reputation of messing up competitive examinations,” he said. Reports suggest that 40 days will be given to students to prepare for the TRT. Though there is no official confirmation from TSPSC on this, aspirants feel the preparatory time should not be less than three months.

As per the ‘TS Direct Recruitment for the Posts of Teachers Rules, 2017’  and reiterated by the latest GO (MS No 25), only the TET scores obtained before the appointed day of June 2, 2014 shall be considered. Selection shall be on the basis of combined marks secured in the main examination to be conducted by the TSPSC (80 per cent) and TET (20 per cent) in all categories except for physical education teaching posts (senior assistant) and PETs for which selection shall be 100 per cent based on main exam by TSPSC.
