IT layoffs: HC admits 2 more pleas

The Hyderabad High Court on Thursday admitted a writ petition submitted by two retrenched Information Technology (IT) employees of Tech Mahindra.

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad High Court on Thursday admitted a writ petition submitted by two retrenched Information Technology (IT) employees of Tech Mahindra.  With this, the number of former employees of Tech Mahindra who approached the court seeking a direction to be reinstated, has reached six.

Justice A Rajasheker Reddy admitted the writ petition, filed against the labour department and the joint commissioner of labour’s office and Tech Mahindra. In the petition, the petitioners argued that the joint collector were abdicating their duties and requested the High Court to take cognizance of the same.

“The labour commissioner is not acting as per the law. We want them to just exercise its powers. There are about 2,000 people supporting our fight against illegal termination and effective implementation of the law of the land,” said Kiran Chandra, member, Forum for IT Professionals (ForIT).
