Telangana psychiatrist stabbed to death in US

NALGONDA:  A psychiatrist from Miryalguda was stabbed to death in his clinic in a Kansas city in the United States of America, on Wednesday night. Dr Achutha Reddy (57), of Seetharampuram of Miryalguda town, had been practicing in the US for more than 25 years, according to information reaching here. His relatives in Telangana received information that he was stabbed to death by a client in his holistic clinic in Wichita, Kansas, late on Wednesday night.

The accused was identified as 21-year-old Umar Rashid Dutt. He reportedly attacked the doctor inside the clinic when the office manager tried to stop him, allowing the doctor to flee. However, the accused pursued him and continued the attack in an alley behind the clinic, police were reported as saying. Achutha Reddy is an alumnus of Osmania Medical College from where he graduated in 1986. He had been practicing in East Wichita since 1989, and was running the Holistic Psychiatric Services there.

His relatives, who heard from Wichita police, said Achutha Reddy suffered multiple stab wounds and died instantly. The accused is said to have been nabbed at the Witchita Country Club and booked forfirst-degreee murder. The deceased doctor’s parents Bhadhra Reddy and Parijatha live in Miryalaguda town. Bhadhra Reddy said his son was a non-controversial person. “He was a calm person and was running the hospital successfully from last few years,’’ he said. Relatives are excepting the body to reach Miryalguda in a few days.
