Six of a family in Telangana commit suicide by consuming poison

Six members of a family, including two children, ended their lives allegedly in Mamillagada of Suryapet district due to financial distress after one of the family members lost crores of rupees.

HYDERABAD: As many as six members of a family, including two children, ended their lives allegedly in Mamillagada of Suryapet district due to financial distress after one of the family members lost crores of rupees by investing in share market. 

One of the deceased, K Janardhan (55), was a BSNL employee and one of his sons, Suresh, loaned crores of rupees from financiers and invested in stock market. However, Suresh lost everything and went absconding since September 11. The family members had lodged a complaint with the local police.

Meanwhile, the financiers exerted pressure on Janardhan to repay the money taken by his son and visited their house repeatedly leaving them humiliated. Last night, Janardhan, his wife Chandrakala, son Ashok, Suresh's wife Prabhata and their children Siri and Ritwika consumed poison and ended their lives.

The incident came to light on Monday morning when the family members did not respond to repeated knocks by the milk vendor. Locals broke open the doors and found the six family members lying dead, police said.
