Speculations are rife that the judge, who had two months to go before retirement, resigned as he was allegedly under pressure from certain quarters in connection with the judgment. Express could not independently verify the reasons behind the sudden move by the Judge.

Reacting to the development, AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi tweeted terming the resignation as 'intriguing'. "The Judge who gave acquittal to all the accused in Mecca Masjid blast RESIGNS very intriguing and I am surprised with the Lordship decision(SIC)", read the tweet.

Meanwhile, the police provided one escort party at his house as a precautionary measure. The escort comprises one sub-inspector and four constables. Certain television channels went to town stating that the judge had received threat calls after the pronouncement of the judgment.

It may be mentioned here that Ravinder Reddy is the president of Telangana judiciary officers association. He earlier took part in the agitation demanding separate high court for Telangana and on the demands pertaining to judicial officers and also resigned for the purpose.
