TS cops to procure high-end DNA identification machine

A team of senior police officers have verified several DNA identification machines manufactured by reputed companies and these machines are being used by International and national agencies.

HYDERABAD: The Telangana State Police department officials, who introduced several cutting-edge technologies for internal use of policemen, have taken a decision to purchase highly sophisticated DNA identification machine that would give report of criminals within hours. For this purpose, the department estimates incurring expenditure close to Rs 1 crore, which may go futher up.

A team of senior police officers have verified several DNA identification machines manufactured by reputed companies and these machines are being used by International and national agencies. The ADGP, Technical Services, Ravi Gupta said the process in procuring latest and high end DNA identification machine to detect all kinds of cases by verifying the offenders details within hours.

“We have initiated tender process by accepting bids from interested candidates/individuals and parties to providing such latest DNA identification machine to the state police department. In few days, the Telangana state police department will have the machine that will utilise for detecting cases reporting from police station of districts to the state capital of Hyderabad and its neighbouring commissionerates of Rachakonda and Cyberabad,’ Ravi Gupta said.

Based on samples of swab and other bit of material collected from criminals, the latest machine would identify the criminals and give a comprehensive report. The department would also provide training to the staff for analysing the DNA identification and using the machines.

TS COP mobile app bags NCRB’s award

The Joint director of National Crime Record Bureau of Ministry of Home Affairs, Sanjay Mathur wrote to the Director General of Police (DGP) M Mahendar Reddy informing that the TS COP—real time policing internal mobile application has bagged the best IT project. The states of Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Uttarakhand state police departments had sent entries of their IT initiatives and a committee finalised TS COP internal mobile App for the NCRB’s trophy,’ Sanjay Mathur said.
