Telangana: Honest bankers to work as CBI officers

Officials working with public sector banks and having a clean record and experience in investigation, vigilance and audit are in high demand.

HYDERABAD: Officials working with public sector banks and having a clean record and experience in investigation, vigilance and audit are in high demand. The Central Bureau of Investigation is looking to rope them in on deputation basis as Investigation Officers (IO) to detect bank frauds, economic offenses and financial scams. The move comes amid a plethora of bank frauds coming to light across the country.

Anish Prasad, Deputy Director of the CBI has written a letter to all public sector bank managements stating that all eligible and willing bank officers would be selected as CBI inspectors based on their work experience and performance during a personal interaction that would be conducted by the CBI.

“On selection, the bank officers would be given training at the CBI academy in Ghaziabad in conducting investigations so that their services can be utilised in detecting cases related to economic offenses, bank frauds and other cases being investigated by the CBI,” Prasad said in his letter sent to PSBs. The investigating agency is planning to initially recruit around 25 bank officers as inspectors for a period of 3-5 years as per recruitment rules. Their recruitment would depend on vigilance clearance.
