Telangana cabinet to decide on tenure of GPs

The tenure of the governing bodies of the existing panchayat raj bodies will expire on August 1 and new governing bodies should be in place from August 2.

HYDERABAD: The tenure of the governing bodies of the existing panchayat raj bodies will expire on August 1 and new governing bodies should be in place from August 2.

But, in view of the delay in conducting elections due to court cases, the cabinet sub-committee, which met here on Wednesday, decided to take up the matter with chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for taking a decision on whether to continue the tenure of the existing governing bodies or appoint special office “The state cabinet has to take a decision whether to continue the existing governing bodies or to appoint special officers.

We will discuss the same with the chief minister,” finance minister E Rajender told reporters after the cabinet sub-committee meeting. The sub-committee also discussed the HC ruling of not allowing more than 50% quota.
