HYDERABAD: The principal bench of National Green Tribunal, New Delhi on Monday directed the Telangana State Pollution Control Board to complete the action initiated by it against pharmaceutical giants Arabindo, Hetero, Mylon and other companies situated in the Polepally SEZ (Special Economic Zone) at Jadcherla in Mahbubnagar district, and  take it to logical conclusion in two weeks.

Granting liberty to the petitioner to approach the tribunal again if he was not satisfied with the action taken by the board, the bench of justice Raghavendra S Rathore (judicial member) and Satyawan Singh Garbyal (expert member)  disposed of the petition filed by Kosigi Venkataiah, a farmer from Rajapur mandal in the district, seeking firm action against the above polluting companies and also the officials who have been extending support to such industries. The petitioner sought direction to the authorities concerned to take steps for restoration of the eco-system which was damaged in the Polepally area.

Petitioner’s counsel K Sravan Kumar had earlier told the tribunal that officials of the pollution control board were in collusion with the management of the polluting industries. The bench disposed of the case by directing the authorities of Telangana PCB to complete taking action against the pharmaceutical and other companies in Polepally SEZ in the next two weeks.
