‘Harassed’ by seniors, Village Revenue Officer in Bhadrachalam attempts suicide

BHADRACHALAM: Suicide attempt by Village Revenue Officer (VRO) Resu Adinarayana Murthy of Adinarayanaraope village in Dummagudem mandal created sensation in the mandal on Monday. According to information, Murthy had been working as a VRO in Narayanaraopet village for the last few years. However, he alleged that the MRO, Dy MRO and Revenue Inspector had been harassing him for the last few months and unable to bear the harassment, he attempted suicide by consuming floor cleaner at his residence.

When Murthy’s family members saw him, they shifted Murthy to a hospital in Bhadrachalam where he is undergoing treatment. His family members said that since past few days, Murthy had not been keeping well and was doing his duties with the help of his son. However, the officials kept harassing him. They also alleged the officials even obstructed releasing of medical bills. Humiliated over this, he consumed the floor cleaner on Monday at his house. Union leaders visited the hospital and consoled Murthy. When contacted, mandal revenue officer Harilal said that he never harassed the VRO.

Farmer beaten up

A farmer, who was unhappy with the  MRO for not issuing pattadar passbook for the land owned by him, was allegedly roughed up by Elkathurthy  MRO office staff. The farmer was beaten up for attacking the MRO at his office on Monday. The police took the farmer Rajaiah into custody on the complaint by the MRO Mallesham.   Rajaiah had some land in Bahupeta village. During land purification exercise, revenue officials issued pattadar passbook on the name of other cultivators and not  on his name. An irked  Rajaiah confronted the MRO.  This angered the MRO office staff and they assaulted him.
