Soon, surveys for five new airports to be conducted

HYDERABAD: Directions have been issued to Municipal Administration and Urban Development and Industries departments to explore the possibility of providing air connectivity to different places in the state, MAUD Minister, KT Rama Rao said.

There are possibilities of setting up airstrips or mini airports in places like Warangal (Mamunuru), Adilabad, Ramagundem, Jakraspally and Kothagudem etc. Apart from this, he asked the Telangana State Aviation Corporation officials for developing exclusive Aviation Strategy Plan for Telangana state. 

During the review meeting held on Thursday, Minister directed the officials concerned to carry out detail surveys for setting up airports.

In connection with Mamanuru airstrip in Warangal, officials informed the minister that there is the availability of 750 acres of land, apart from this, there is a requirement of additional land. Among the five proposed, Warangal airport can be established first on priority.
