HYDERABAD: Stating that several promises made to Telangana in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014, remained unfulfilled including setting up of a separate high court for the new state, TRS MP B Vinod Kumar alleged that AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu was creating hurdles for the bifurcation of the existing Hyderabad High Court.

“They have constructed a secretariat and state Assembly building in record time, but they have not taken steps to construct a building for the high court. This is only with ill motive because in the present high court in Hyderabad, the majority of judges are not from our region. I don’t want to attribute anything, but unfortunately, they have ill intentions in not having their own high court. Why are they not coming forward to have their own HC?” the TRS member came down heavily on AP CM Naidu.

Making it clear that Telangana would not object if Special Category Status (SCS) was given to AP, Vinod, while taking part in the debate on no-trust motion against Narendra Modi government in Lok Sabha on Friday, said, “Rahul Gandhi made a statement in the press recently that he wanted to ensure that SCS is accorded to AP after coming to power in 2019. Does that mean that they are also going to give tax incentives? The people of Telangana want to know, because of neither they (people of AP), nor we (people of TS) want to hear false promises. What is SCS? It should be defined. Or else, you re-define it.”

“Sir, I want to know from BJP leadership and from Rahul Gandhi...they should specify what is SCS. This fighting should not continue after 2019. We should come to a logical conclusion. My contention is that the assurances given in the AP Reorganisation Act for Telangana should be fulfilled. The PM should reply during the debate. I also ask Rahul to respond,” Vinod said.

The TRS member also wanted the  Centre to fulfil assurances given to Telangana such as the establishment of a tribal university, construction of a steel factory in Bayyaram by SAIL, setting up of a rail coach factory at Kazipet etc

“We request the PM to make a statement on the allocation of funds for the projects we are constructing on the Krishna and Godavari. They can choose whichever project they want to, but such project should be declared as the national project,” Vinod said.
