HYDERABAD: People living in districts should brace themselves for a good amount of rainfall in the next two days. As per the forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad centre, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places on Sunday and Monday in the districts of Adilabad, Nirmal, Mancherial, Asifabad, Peddapalli, Karimnagar, Jagtial, Sircilla, Warangal, Bhupalpallly, Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahbubnagar and Jangaon. 

On Saturday, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao issued orders to all government officials to keep the state apparatus ready to deal with the situation.  Chief Secretary SK Joshi directed all district collectors across the state to be prepared with all precautionary measures in place to deal with heavy rains and its aftermath if any. The state has been receiving good rainfall in July. Till Saturday, eight districts received excess rainfall since the start of monsoon season on June 1, as per Telangana State Development Planning Society(TSDPS).                                   

Of the remaining districts, 19 districts received normal rainfall till Saturday and four districts, Sangareddy, Medak, Siddipet and Hyderabad received deficient rainfall. The eight districts that received excess rainfall this season are Adilabad, Asifabad, Bhupalpally, Kothagudem, Mahbubabad, Warangal (Urban), Mahbubnagar and Khammam. In Adilabad, the rainfall this monsoon season was 48 per cent above than normal and the district received 611.7 mm till now, against the normal 412.8 mm.

As per the IMD forecast, Hyderabad will experience light to moderate rains in the next four days at a few places.  On Saturday, however, not much rainfall was recorded in the state, with Luxettipet in Mancherial recording nearly 23.5 mm.  Hyderabad city too experienced a slight drizzle at a few places.
