Tollywood singer Rahul Sipligunj booked in drunk driving case

Traffic police claimed that Rahul created nuisance claiming that he was targeted even though he was not in an inebriated condition.

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad traffic police booked case of drunken driving on Saturday against Tollywood playback singer Rahul Sipligunj, who shot to fame for singing the number ‘Ranga Ranga Rangasthalana’ in the recently released hit movie Rangasthalam.

He was in an inebriated condition when driving his car, with blood alcohol level as high as 179 mg/dL. Traffic police claimed that Rahul created nuisance claiming that he was targeted even though he was not in an inebriated condition. Well known TV anchor, Lobo was along with him in the car.

It may be recalled that recently, Telugu television anchor, Pradeep Machiraju became infamous for being caught driving in an intoxicated condition.

According police, they conducted drunk driving checks at different places including at Road No 45, Neeru’s, Diamond building and Chiranjeevi blood bank. It was around 12.30 am when traffic police intercepted a car in which singer Rahul and the TV anchor Lobo were travelling and Rahul was driving the vehicle.

Traffic police conducted a breath analyser test on Rahul, which reportedly tested positive. The traffic police officials immediately seized the car, issued challan, asked Rahul to appear for counselling and also to appear in court.
