A division bench of the High Court on Tuesday directed the Telangana government to file a detailed counter affidavit within three weeks on a PIL filed against appointment of tahsildars as sub-registrars. The bench was dealing with a PIL, urging the court to set aside the GO issued by the Telangana government appointing tahsildars as sub-registrars.
Petitioner’s counsel G Madhusudhan Reddy submitted that the action of the state government was in violation of the procedure prescribed in the Registration Act 1908 and contrary to the rules framed under the AP Registration Manual. Feeling the need for having an in-depth hearing on the issue, the bench directed the government to file a detailed counter affidavit and adjourned the case by three weeks.
