TSPSC is not a recruiting agency or a Human Resource department:Ghanta Chakrapani

TSPSC chairman claims creation of one lakh jobs was not the target of the commission, recruitment is undertaken only when State Government gives its nod

HYDERABAD: On unfulfilled promise of creating 1 lakh jobs in the State  Telangana State Public Service Commission(TSPSC) is not a recruiting agency or a Human Resource department. The Commission undertakes recruitment only when the government sanctions positions and sends the final details to us. The recruitment of one lakh jobs is not our target. By this December end we would have completed recruitment for all the 35,724 notified positions.

On nepotism in TSPSC
Unlike in the past, there are no allegations against the recruitment process of TSPSC . There is no room for nepotism in TSPSC. There is no entry for politicians into the TSPSC office. I cannot help even my child in recruitment in the existing set up of transparent technology introduced in the recruitment process

On TSPSC itself being short-staffed
Since TSPSC came into existence, it has been functioning with a staff of just about 70 people, some of whom came back to Telangana after bifurcation. Among the Commission’s staff there is no one at the senior level. When we started off, I came to realize that none of the staff members had ever worked in the finance department of the erstwhile APPSC. However, from there we have come to a stage where we are providing inputs on improving the recruitment procedure to PSCs of other states like Gujarat, Karnataka, Goa, Tamil Nadu and Himachal Pradesh. We have written to state government regarding the paucity of manpower in TSPSC.

On why TSPSC is still continuing to take help from CGG
We would not like to be dependent on Center for Good Governance(CGG) for support in terms of information technology and the IT Minister, KT Rama Rao has even offered financial support of `4 crores for becoming self-reliant. Unfortunately, because Andhra Pradesh government is not vacating the space they share with us in the building from where we operate, we do not have space to accommodate the servers and other infrastructure required to have our own IT set up.

He also informed that this week the TRT merit list for 5,415 positions of secondary grade teacher will be released and said TRT merit list for 1,011 positions of Language Pandit and 416 positions of Physical Education Teacher will be released in the next month.

Commission yet to decide if it would  respond to HC’s order
TSPSC is yet to decide if it would appeal against recent High Court’s order allowing some senior residents(SRs) to be considered for recruitment to assistant professors’ post. The matter revolves around a TSPSC notification of September 12, 2017 which stated registration with TS Medical Council mandatory as one of the eligibility criteria for assistant professor’s post. Post Graduate medical students who pursue one-year government service are called SR doctors.
