GHMC asked to remove bats from HC premises

Apprehending outbreak of deadly Nipah virus in the city on the lines of Kerala, an advocate of the Hyderabad High Court issued notice to the authorities concerned of  the GHMC.

HYDERABAD: Apprehending outbreak of deadly Nipah virus in the city on the lines of Kerala, an advocate of the Hyderabad High Court issued notice to the  authorities concerned of  the GHMC seeking to take measures for immediate removal of hundreds of bats present in the High Court premises.  

Earlier, the joint registrar of the High Court had addressed a letter to the additional commissioner (health and sanitation), GHMC requesting the latter to issue instructions to the concerned to inspect the HC premises and take preventive steps to check spread of Nipah virus due to presence of numerous bats in the court premises. The joint registrar asked the GHMC officer to treat the letter as ‘specially urgent’.
