Honesty in our times: Telangana man returns Rs 1.5 lakh

The employee, Rahul, found a bag lying in a corner of the room while closing the showroom and immediately informed the police.

KOTHAGUDDEM: In an exemplary show of honesty, a garment showroom employee handed over to police a bag containing Rs 1.50 lakh cash which was left behind in the showroom by a customer in Kothagudem on Sunday.

The employee, Rahul, found a bag lying in a corner of the room while closing the showroom. He opened the bag, and to his surprise found that it had bundles of notes. He immediately informed about it to the shop owner, who, in turn, asked him to inform the police.

Later, Rahul approached the Three Town police station and handed over the bag containing cash to the police. The CI is said to have appreciated Rahul’s honesty.

The police then tracked down the bag’s owner Satheesh. “I was in a hurry to reach home and by mistake, I left the bag containing cash in the showroom. I was about to lodge a complaint when I received a call from the police saying that my cash bag was safe with them. I was so relieved,” Sateesh said.

“I am so happy that I could be helpful to someone. I never thought of taking the cash as I believe in honesty,” Rahul said. DSP SM Ali appreciated Rahul’s honesty and asked him to continue his good work.
