Luxury wedded to charity

Yet another luxury brand made its foray into India and this time it was a luxury mobile phone brand—Vertu. The first standalone boutique of Vertu in India opened at the DLF Emporio on Wednesday night and to commemorate the occasion, Perry Oosting, President, Vertu, and couturier Tarun Tahiliani hosted a cocktail soiree.

The same evening Vertu announced a special charitable initiative. The Vertu Constellation Smile, a unique variant of Vertu’s most recent smartphone offering, Constellation Touch, has been designed to celebrate a partnership between Vertu and Smile Train, a worldwide organisation based in New York City with the mission of providing free corrective surgery for children with unrepaired cleft lips and palates. On sale of every Constellation Smile, Vertu will donate Euro 200 to Smile Train.

The chic soiree also exhibited world-renowned photographer Mary McCartney (daughter of British pop legend, Sir Paul McCartney) imagery documenting the journey of the children whose lives have been changed for the better as a result of receiving surgery. Vertu commissioned McCartney to curate the photo documentary. Seen here were fellow designers Rohit Bal and Gaurav Gupta, Sumeet Nair and Geetanjali Kashyap, Sanjay and Sheena Sharma among others.
