JALANDHAR: Terming Operation Blue Star a historical blunder, BJP leader Arun Jaitley today said the then Congress government at the Centre failed to foresee the consequences of the army action at the Golden Temple.
“Government of the time and those involved in its planning did not foresee the serious repercussions of Operation Blue Star and I have no hesitation in saying that it was a historical blunder”, the BJP general secretary told reporters here.
When told that L K Advani in his autobiography ‘My Country, My Life’ had sought to justify the army action to
flush out terrorists from the golden temple, Jaitley said the BJP stalwart had been presented out of context and
misconstrued .
Asked about the BJP s position on the operation, he said it has been very clear but refused to elaborate.
