NEW DELHI: Amid the terror strikes being carried out by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence on Indian social and espionage rings, the anti-terror unit of Delhi police's Special Cell is now procuring high-end software and hardware to peep into mobiles and mails of any suspect.
The department has procured an equipment that can hack any encrypted communication.
To fight with the terror organisations, the unit will monitor the virtual world of the suspected terrorists and radicalised youths.

In a recent law and order meeting, Commissioner of Police Alok Kumar Verma and Special Commissioner of Police Arvind Deep, heading Special Cell, said, “The Ministry of Communication and IT, Department of Telecommunication has granted permission to Special Cell for procurement of the Multi-user Internet Monitoring System connectivity.”

The equipment worth `6 crore will be set up at Lodhi Colony office of the unit. Now, the police will be able to crack into any Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Tumblr account and even chat application accounts like Wickr, Glyph and WhatsApp.
A senior police officer said monitoring the heavy amount of data on social networking sites is a challenge. So, we will use keywords to crack the code language between suspected terrorists.”
Delhi police is the first force to start social networking surveillance unit.
