LUCKNOW: Even if she got politics as a legacy after marrying UP’s most famous politician’s son, her electoral debut is not a cakewalk. Aparna Yadav, the younger daughter-in-law of SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav is facing BJP’s Rita Bahuguna Joshi on a seat SP has never won in the past.
Taking the family feud in her stride, she has run one of the most sustained campaign to woo the voters of Lucknow Cantonment. Her candidature was announced a year ago, but she got caught in the family cross-fire. She went about doing her job even when her name was not declared ‘officially’ in the first couple of lists. Her perseverance bore fruits and she was not only retained as the party candidate, but Mulayam, CM Akhilesh Yadav and his wife Dimple all campaigned for her.
“Aparna is my bahu, she is my son’s wife. Vote for her. Support her as my honour rides on her success,” said Mulayam, who after seeking support for brother Shivpal in Jaswantnagar, confined himself to stand by his chhoti bahu. Aparna takes it as a test of her efforts which she has put in during last eight months for the development of her constituency.
Aparna has succeeded not only in mitigating the after taste of bitter battle of nerves in her sasural by lining up Netaji, Bhaiyya (Akhilesh) and bhabhi (Dimple) all in her support in a show of family bonhomie, she could also manage to bring the SP and Congress grass root workers close to each other to work for her.
Exuding confidence and riding high on development works worth `40 crore, Aparna promises her voters that she will turn their fortunes if elected. She also strikes an emotional cord with the people while covering the labyrinthine corners of her constituency.
And she never forgets to mention her brilliant equation with bhabhi Dimple as the two have shared smiles and tears together during their tough times.
