NEW DELHI: From visiting an ice-cream parlour in Connaught Place to having a cup of tea in a volunteer’s house, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is now-a-days busy regaining the public connect that he lost after losing Delhi elections. Party sources are claiming that after multiple defeats in various elections, including the MCD polls, Kejriwal has started his own politics of meeting public.

Kejriwal has a fixed schedule: He meets people from 10-11 am at his residence from Monday to Friday. His Sundays are spent meeting people and party volunteers in city and adjoining areas.

On July 9, he was seen posing with public in front of an ice-cream parlour in Connaught Place. Public, who gathered there, clicked pictures with Kejriwal before having ice-cream. He remained there for 15-20 minutes, and interacted with people.

An insider claimed, “He has been adopting old style of politics. He is trying to regain the lost connect. Kejriwal is visiting places that are far from Delhi secretariat and are hardly visited by anyone. He is visiting hospitals, schools, and colonies to take feedback of government. He has made it his job to take an update on the tasks done by his government directly from the public.”

Last week, when the CM was in his constituency to take first-hand feedback on a work done, he had tea at a volunteer’s house. “A local volunteer requested him to have tea at her house. He accepted it as a gesture to connect with the people,” a party insider said.

According to party sources, Kejriwal is strategically doing a dual job. He is meeting public and also uniting party ground workers, who had lost faith in the party after their defeats. “It is a part of the strategy to unite the party like its earlier days. Recently, he visited a party volunteer, who was admitted to hospital after he fractured his leg,” sources said.
