New Delhi: While Delhi Police has turned North Campus into a fortress, there is an undercurrent brewing in Jamia Milia Islamia. RSS is making inroads into minority-dominant Jamia with seminars and activities. And while Jamia is discussing triple talaaq, DU is organising debates on nationalism.

Jamia doesn’t conduct student elections, while DU has always been tied between BJP and Congress-backed student unions. “RSS has been conducting monthly workshops in Delhi under its Rashtriya Muslim Manch. Students and professors from Jamia attend regularly,” said an RSS official.

Earlier, BJP leader Shazia Ilmi alleged that Jamia pressured RSS-backed Forum for Awareness of National Security to remove her name from the list of speakers on triple talaaq. The event was organised by the RSS.
“Elections are not conducted in Jamia, But the adjoining population might be influenced by our policies,” said an ABVP leader.
