As the curtains fell on The Amazon India Fashion Week-Autumn- Winter 2017 on March 18, everybody had an opinion on what they liked, what they didn’t, and what went unnoticed. As Abraham & Thakore’s collection went ‘back to work’, Malini Ramani brought her line with a nomadic streak.
When designer Samant Chauhan brought golden threads of Assam to the stage, Anju Modi showcased a line inspired by the cosmic symphony of the night sky, in addition to a host of other designers, the real show stopper, however, were designer duo Shivan and Narresh.
They gathered roaring applause for their painter, Egon Schiele’s inspired collection of experimental, non-conformist and extremely edgy collection with skirts and crop tops, saris, jumpsuits and swimsuits. Thrown into their weaves was their signature skein work technique, that are brush metal paillettes, which are hand-folded and then rendered with pearls and metallic trims.
These are finally hand-applied. “This collection was created piece by piece with great attention to its precarious details - the jagged edge lines that were placed on the swim wear to the draping, there was a homage to Schiele’s signature line works on his art pieces,” says Narresh Kukreja.
