BENGALURU:  Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is set to do a Modi in reaching out to the masses, but with a twist. His exercise is mainly aimed at spreading awareness about the achievements of the Congress government. The CM, who has been attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio talk, will emulate it with his ‘Kaam Ki Baat’ for direct engagement with the people ahead of the coming Assembly elections.Continuing his attack, Siddaramaiah said, “‘Mann Ki Baat’ of the Union government is all talk and no work. Unlike the Union government, our government is all about work, not mere talk. It is wrong to say that we are emulating the Centre. Our government is committed to working for the people. We are formulating the ‘Kaam Ki Baat’ programme with this spirit.”

Siddaramaiah is preparing to outdo Modi as he will tap the visual media to establish a direct connect with the masses and it will be a weekly affair unlike Modi’s monthly talk. According to sources in the government, `17 crore has been provided for setting up giant LED screens in all taluk centres, and Deputy Commissioners in the districts have been instructed to set up the facility at the earliest.

The programme has been formulated in the backdrop of the Congress high command expressing its disappointment with the state government and state Congress leadership for the failure in spreading awareness about the achievements and welfare programmes of the state government. Siddaramaiah himself is set to market his achievements and welfare programmes directly to the electorate during the run-up to the polls through the ‘Kaam Ki Baat’ programme. The Chief Minister’s address will be recorded at the ‘Varuna’ studio on the premises of his home office ‘Krishna’ and will be beamed to masses at all taluk centres.
