NEW DELHI: Scores of students, along with mother of Jawaharlal Nehru University student Najeeb Ahmed, who went missing one year ago, continued sitting on protest at the CBI headquarters in New Delhi on Saturday.

The protestors, who slept on straw mats spread on the road outside the investigation agency’s office on Friday night, have been demanding answers from the agency over the status of the case.

“The CBI has not been able to make progress in the case, I appeal to all those who have been supporting me in the case to come out in huge numbers and join me at this protest. I plan to stay all night,” said Nafisa Ahmed, mother of the PhD student who went missing from JNU campus on October 15 last year.

The protesters said they would continue their agitation over the weekend if CBI officers, including its chief Alok Kumar, did not meet them. The reward for information about Najeeb’s whereabouts has been increased by police from `1 lakh to `10 lakh. No one has come forward with any information on Najeeb
so far. Within days of taking over the probe last year, the CBI declared a separate reward of `10 lakh.
