NEW DELHI: With the onset of Monsoon, the health and welfare department, will designate a nodal officer at all offices and institutes in the national capital to review the measures taken for preventing the outbreak of dengue and such other vector-borne diseases. In a meeting with Lieutenant-Governor Anil Baijal last week, the department proposed the move, said an official.

“All offices should designate a nodal officer responsible to carry out vector borne control related activities. The officer’s contact details would be put up at prominent spots in the offices and persons with any concerns on cleanliness in the building/office will be able to communicate it to the officer,” said an official in the meeting.

Water and vector-borne diseases see an all-time high during the monsoon season and this year as many as 28 cases of Dengue, 14 Chikungunya and 40 cases malaria were recorded in five months till June.

As per the latest report from the municipal corporations, the domestic breeding checkers have found mosquito-breeding in 38,021 households in the city.

Further, 44,020 legal notices have been served for various violations and 3,073 prosecutions have been initiated overall, with South Delhi being the highest.
