Father Kuriakose Kattuthara was found dead in a room at the St. Mary's Church complex in Dasuya town, around 180 km from Chandigarh. He was under the Jalandhar diocese which is headed by Mulakkal.
Bishop Mulakkal was released from Kottayam jail on October 16, a day after being granted conditional bail.
Upon reaching Jalandhar on Wednesday, Bishop Mulakkal was welcomed by his followers and even thanked them for their support.
Mulakkal, who heads the Roman Catholic Diocese in Jalandhar, is the first bishop in the country to be jailed for rape.
