Dileep, the 11th accused in the case, filed the bail plea on Monday morning before the High Court after a lower court rejected his plea on Saturday.
Pictures that surfaced on TV channels today were taken in Thrissur last November during a film shoot shows Dileep with prime accused Pulsar Suni -- after the actor claimed he never knew the latter.
In a statement posted on Facebook Tuesday, the group said that since the case is pending in court, it is illegal and disrespectful to cast aspersions on the character of the victim.
Dileep repeated his assertions that a group of people had been attempting deliberately to malign his image through social media and a few ‘yellow online websites’.
Officers with the special investigation team said Suni claimed he had abandoned the mobile phone somewhere in Kochi.
Pulsar Suni, the prime accused in the February 17 incident, and his accomplice V P Vijeesh would be produced before the magistrate court in Aluva today.
His statement comes against the backdrop of reports that the attack on the actress could be because of professional rivalry.
