PSV Beats Wolfsburg to Move to Second Place

THE HAGUE: PSV climbed from the fourth to the second place in Champions League Group B after defeating German side VfL Wolfsburg 2-0 in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

PSV on Tuesday were the better side in the first half and created some minor chances. Jeffrey Bruma came close with a long-distance shot and Jurgen Locadia with an attempt from close range, reported Xinhua news agency.

On the other side of the pitch Dutch Wolfsburg striker Bas Dost was denied a goal by PSV goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet.

After 10 minutes in the second half PSV came in front. Captain Luuk de Jong passed through to Locadia and the PSV forward netted with his left foot.

Adam Maher had a chance to double the score afterwards, but his header from a Luciano Narsingh cross went just over the cross-bar.

With Julian Draxler, Vieirinha and Nicklas Bendtner coming on as substitutes for Josuha Guilavogui, Andre Schurrle and Dost the visitors pushed forward for the equalizer.

Zoet saved a shot by Naldo, but on the counter attack PSV scored. After a pass by Andres Guardado De Jong beat Wolfsburg goalkeeper Diego Benaglio with a lob.

With the second win in the group, after the 2-1 home win against Manchester United, PSV came on six points from four matches in Group B, as much as Wolfsburg, but with equal results between the teams in question, PSV now are second with more goals scored.

The best two teams after six matches qualify for the next round.
