For the first time since being elected to power, President-elect Donald Trump said he believes Russia was behind the Democratic National Committee hacking ahead of the US elections. “I think it was Russia,” he said, adding Russia wasn’t the only nation that hacks US targets.

Meanwhile, confronted by claims that Russian agents gathered embarrassing and compromising information about him, Trump chose to side with Russia and dismiss the allegations as “utter nonsense”. He has accused the US intelligence agencies of leaking information against him and likened their actions to those of Nazi Germany.

Lashing out at media for what he claimed to be ‘fake news’, Trump called the website BuzzFeed a ‘failing pile of garbage’ for publishing the Russian dossier which claimed that Moscow has been blackmailing Trump over his past sexual adventures. He also refused to take questions from other media houses that had published the report.
