PARIS:  Police searched the country manor house of French presidential candidate Francois Fillon on Friday looking for evidence over an expenses scandal, an investigation source said Saturday.

The search of the house in Beauce, near the northwestern town of Le Mans, "finished yesterday evening", the source said. Fillon has said he is to be charged over claims he gave his wife a fake parliamentary job.
