Panel on Telugu culture draws lessons from TN

Asserting that the government is committed to the development of Telugu language.

VIJAYAWADA: Asserting that the government is committed to the development of Telugu language, Information and Public Relations Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy said Wednesday that the Chief Minister had appointed a Telugu language committee with the sole intention of floating a Telugu Language Development Organisation.

Addressing intellectuals, artists and language experts at a meeting on the development of Telugu, the Minister said the committee had already visited Chennai, Delhi and other cities to study measures being adopted by the governments there for protecting their language and culture. He said that as part of preserving and carrying forward the Telugu culture and heritage, the government decided to organise festivals in all the districts on the lines of Lepakshi festival in Anantapur and Visakha Utsav in Vizag. AP Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddaprasad said that Tamilians put sincere efforts to protect and spread their mother tongue.
