The American carmaker Ford has created a niche for itself in the Indian market with its customer relation enhancement programs and technical support projects. To gain further momentum in its sales figures and emerge as a strong player, the company has started to offer a zero down payment scheme where in you can drive your favorite car right away with easy monthly installments.

The Classic sedan (earlier Fiesta) and the hatchback are one of the most adored family cars from company’s bouquet. By introducing this scheme along with benefits up to INR 20,000 with free first year insurance and accessories, Ford is sure going to attract more segment specific customers. Under the scheme, Figo attracts a savings of up to INR 68,000 whereas the Classic offers savings up to INR 50,000. Customers can also avail exchange offer benefits on both the cars. However, the offer is available only on Ford Figo Titanium and Ford Classic diesel Titanium.

Model Specifications

Both Figo and Classic diesel share the 1.4 litre 4 cylinder 1399 cc TDCI engine. The engine gives an output of 68.1bhp at 4000rpm and a max torque of 160Nm at 2000 rpm. The petrol version of Figo is powered by 1.2 litre 4 cylinder engine that gives output of 70bhp at 6250 rpm and top torque of 102Nm at 4000 rpm. On the other hand, the Classic petrol version comes with a hefty 1.6  litre naturally aspirated engine with a power output of 99.6bhp at 65000 rpm and maximum torque of 146Nm at 3400rpm. Both the engines come mated to 5 speed manual transmission. While Figo holds its value for money tag true to its heart, the Classic is one of the performance inclined sedan in its category.

The EMI for both the models start at INR 1697, being calculated on a loan amount of INR 1 lac for a period of 7 years. Ford Figo features some of the best features such as integrated 2DIN audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, multi-functional steering wheel and 284 litres cargo volume. These features add on to the marketability of Figo. Moreover, safety features like ABS, central locking system, dual front airbags, child safety locks, door ajar warning, side and front impact beams makes it a more compelling deal.

The Classic too comes with some interesting features such as electrically operated ORVMs, speed sensing stereo system and 100 percent rear seat split, while safety features include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, central locking system, etc which makes it a preferred choice among first time car buyers.

Competitors

The new scheme has intensified the competition among small car makers such as Maruti Suzuki with Swift, Hyundai with i10, Toyota with Etios Liva and Chevrolet with Sail. Keeping the price tag around INR 3.9-6.1 lac and packing all high tech features along with superior performance and fuel efficiency, Figo gives a tough fight to the B-segment cars.

Ford Classic faces competitors like Honda Amaze, Chevrolet Sail, Tata Indigo ECS, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire and Mahindra Verito. With a price tag ranging from INR 4.9-7.4 lac and this tempting offer in hand, the Classic sedan is going to be a certain hurdle for its rivals.

Conclusion

All in all, with an irresistible offer that includes cash benefits, exchange offers, corporate discounts, freebies and large array of accessories, a zero down payment scheme is sure going to attract a fair base of customers to Ford. Moreover, the minimalistic yet stylish design of both Figo hatchback and Classic sedan is already very popular among all generations alike.

The auto war is going to approach new heights with so many companies offering new models and various schemes nowadays to clear the remaining stock as 2015 is about to come in a month's time.
