We are still afresh from the launch of Hyundai Creta, the new compact SUV from Hyundai that has created a lot of buzz even before it was launched. There were a lot of features apart from the glorious design that captured the imagination of many among the Indian car enthusiasts including the arrival of a 7-inch audio-visual-navigation touchscreen. This 7-inch AVN touchscreen infotainment did win Hyundai many fans and was widely appreciated and therefore, keeping the same in mind, Hyundai has decided to provide this feature for its other two popular models including Hyundai Elite i20 and Hyundai Elite i20 Active.

With the addition of this new touchscreen system, Elite i20 becomes the second in its class to receive the provision whereas Hyundai Elite i20 Active becomes the first in its class for the same. It is only the top model for Hyundai Elite i20 Active that gets the new touchscreen system whereas Hyundai Elite i20 gets an all-new model for it. It is quite possible that the move has been made after Honda introduced the touchscreen system for the new Honda Jazz making it the first in its class to offer the feature.

As far as the system itself is concerned, Hyundai Creta has received a lot of praise for its multimedia system which is very fast in its responsiveness while being user-friendly as well. The data on the interface is also well organized and easy to make sense of. Other connectivity features that come along with the system include Bluetooth, smartphone integration, AUX-in and USB support, etc. The stereo system is also quite compact with four speakers and 2-tweeter setup that delivers decent sound quality. There are multiple uses of the 7 inch AVN screen as it can also act as the reversing camera display for the parking guidelines delivering views that can be adjusted for easier parking.

The Elite i20 gets a new model by the name of Asta (O) while there is Hyundai Elite i20 SX which is an already existing variant that gets the new touchscreen system. This also means that these variants would be the most expensive trims among the line-up. The starting price for Hyundai Elite i20 diesel is at Rs. 6.46 lac which is Era while Asta (O) is now the most expensive diesel trim at Rs. 8.69 lac. The starting price for the petrol variant of Hyundai Elite i20 is Rs. 5.34 lac for Era while Asta (O) petrol is priced at Rs.7.49 lac.

On the other hand, Hyundai Elite i20 Active petrol line-up now starts at Rs. 6.47 lac with Active base, while Active SX is the most expensive model among the line up at Rs. 8.30 lac. The diesel variants are more expensive with Hyundai Elite i20 Active Base available at Rs.7.72 lac and Active SX being priced at Rs. 9.61 lac (ex-showroom, New Delhi)

We would have to wait and see how much difference the addition of this new feature will make to the overall sales of Hyundai Elite i20 Active and Elite i20, but it certainly shows that Hyundai is paying attention to what the customer desires.
