Maruti Suzuki India has launched new variants in the mid-sized sedan Ciaz line-up starting at a price of INR 9.20 lac and INR 10.28 lac (Ex-Showroom Delhi) for its petrol and diesel powertrains respectively. As the festive season has arrived, Maruti has started bringing its new launches and facelifts in the market. The company recently introduced Ciaz with RS phraseology, which is a prefixing addition to the mild hybrid system known as Ciaz Zdi+ SHVS. The same codification would also be attached with the Zxi+ variant in near future.

The new RS gets few cosmetic changes inside out. It gets sportier in looks while no change in the engine is reported. New Maruti Ciaz RS is yet another effort from the leading car making company to gain more sales in the upcoming festive season besides the S-Cross, Baleno and other cars. Ciaz RS competes against the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Swift in the segment. The vehicle is offered in seven different shades including White, Black, Brown, Red, Grey, Beige and Silver.

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz RS has been offered with different exterior designs. The standard Ciaz Z+ variants receive special spoiler package which includes side under spoiler, rear underbody spoiler, front under spoiler and trunk lid spoiler. All these help the new Ciaz to adapt different glimpses as compared to the regular Ciaz. While the interior tweaks make the cabin go snazzy in all black hues with the instrument cluster in grey chrome finishing. Various other features like SmartPlay infotainment unit, ABS and airbags make the car more fun and secure vehicle.

Mechanically, Maruti Ciaz RS Zxi+ will be equipped with a 1.4-litre petrol mill that can churn out 91 bhp of power at 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 130 Nm at 4000 rpm. The motor comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission that transfers the power to the front wheels and gives the fuel economy of 20.73 kmpl. On the other hand, Maruti Ciaz Zdi+ will be powered by 1.3-litre diesel mill with SHVS technology. The motor delivers a power output of 88.5 bhp and a peak torque of 200 Nm. This mill comes coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox that sends power to the front wheels. The diesel mill gives a mileage figure of about 28.03 kmpl.

Mr. R.S. Kalsi, the Executive Director-Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki, said that Ciaz has emerged as one of the strongest brands. The vehicle has strengthened company’s position in the mid-size sedan section. The premium brand Ciaz has been appreciated by the customers for their high style, rich features and for offering the best in class mileage in both the diesel and petrol variants. He also said that the introduction of Smart Hybrid diesel and advanced safety features like ABS and dual airbags in the base trims has further enhanced the car's reputation. And for the customers who want something different and stylish in the Ciaz, new RS tantalises.

Maruti Suzuki is aiming to get on the top position which is presently secured by Honda City in the C-segment. Since Honda City was first introduced in January 2014, it has been able to grab an impressive number of sales with an average delivery of 7000-8000 units per month. While on the other hand, Maruti Ciaz was launched in October 2014 and could manage to steadily increase its market share. At first it got about 3000-3500 units monthly average sales while in the past 2 months, the same has been considerably increased with 5000 units. This raise in the sales figures is seen after the car maker introduced Ciaz with SHVS technology.
