Bajaj Auto, the Indian two-wheeler manufacturer, is ready to impress the masses again with its new model of most fuel efficient Platina range. The new Platina 100 ES has a better design and a whole new engine that helps it return an excellent 96.9kmpl of mileage. Priced at just Rs. 44,507 (ex-showroom, Delhi), it is available in three vibrant shades: Ebony Black, Electron Blue and Candy Red.
The 2015 Bajaj Platina 100 ES has been updated with a recomposed headlight, console, bikini fairing, rear grab rails, side plus rear panels and seat. The tank looks similar to the one of the former Platina 100, which almost dominates all the new elements.
Bajaj Platina 100 ES employs a 102cc, single-cylinder, 2-valve, DTS-I with ExhausTEC engine, which is tuned to deliver an astonishing mileage. The motor is mated to a 4-speed gearbox with all down-shift pattern. Configured to churn out an utmost power of 8.1bhp at 7,500rpm with a supreme torque of 8.6Nm at 5,000rpm, the powertrain incorporates PTE 16 Manual choke carburetor type fuel system. Top speed claimed by the company is 90kmpl, which is attained by reducing 5kg of mass.
Built on a tubular single down tube with lower cradle frame, the suspension system equipped to it are Telescopic Type at the front and hydraulic SNS at the rear. Tyres allocated to the vehicle are 2.75x17 41P at the front and 3.00x17 50P at the rear. Braking system consists of 110mm drum brakes at both the ends. Besides weighing 108kg, it has a fuel tank capacity of 11.5 liter. The wheelbase of the motorcycle is 20mm less, equal to 1255mm and the seat height is 798mm.
Targeted against the mass catering motorcycles like Hero HF-Deluxe, TVS Star City Plus, Honda Dream Neo and other motorcycles that are priced in the range of Rs. 42,000-45,000, the 2015 Bajaj Platina 100 ES seems pretty competitive.
