Toyota has recently unveiled the official teaser of the upcoming second generation Innova. The car is scheduled to make its debut in Indonesia this month on 23rd of November 2015 while the Indian launch will take place next year. However, the vehicle will be made public at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo in February.
Innova is the most popular MPV since its launch in India. The car was first introduced in 2005 and is offered in both diesel and petrol engine options for the buyers to choose from. After its 2005 launch, the car realized a mid-life update in 2013 giving the vehicle cosmetic changes on the outside and inside. But with the new version, the carmaker is all set to capitalize on the MPV.
Recently, Toyota released the rear end brochure of the 2016 Innova that is going viral on the internet. Talking about the leaked images, the car on the rear part lay hands up on the wide tail lamps and more angular looks. The indicators are hanging down to the boot lid and further they meet to the upper lip of the rear bumper. Apart from this, a rear wheel arch carried from the present model, square shaped windscreen and low loading lip are some other interesting features of the vehicle. The new Innova is based on the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform confirmed by the Naomi Ishii, head of Toyota Motor’s Indian business. The new vehicle is described to have a very impressive and stylish outside.
On the front, the car assorts dual projector headlamps and an aggressive hexagonal radiator grille with large horizontal chrome slats. Fog lamps are now more adjacent with the indicators. Coming to its inside, the new Innova 2016 enlists interiors that are inspired by the Corolla and the Fortuner 2016. This time the car comes with a big touchscreen unit, an advanced driver information cluster and ambient lighting.
Under the bonnet, the new Innova 2016 incorporates a 2.4 litre diesel mill that can generate the power output of 149 PS at 3400 rpm and a peak torque of 343 Nm between 1200-2800 rpm when mated to a five speed manual transmission. However, coupling with a 6-speed automatic gearbox, it can produce the peak torque of 360 Nm in the range of 1200-1600 rpm. In the Indonesian version, the car integrates a 2.0 liter dual VVT-i petrol motor and it is available with the option of 215/65 R17 and 205/65 R16 alloy wheels.
Toyota recently brought the new Land Cruiser 200 into light at the sticker price of INR 1.29 Crore in the country. Various noticeable changes can be viewed on the inside and out.
Talking about the amelioration, a restyled front radiator grille with 3 bar chrome, improved bumper and fog lamps in chrome inserts make the vehicle rejuvenating. Coming to its interiors, the new Land Cruiser 200 obtains a refreshed instrument cluster, large air conditioning units, multi-functional steering wheel and comfy seating. Under the bonnet, the new Toyota Land Cruiser works on a 4.4 litre twin turbo V8 diesel motor that can produce the power output of 268 bhp and a maximum torque of 650 Nm. The motor now comes mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Moreover, the new vehicle now gets new color options as well, such as the Copper Brown and Dark Blue while other colors like Silver Metallic, Grey Metallic, Dark Red Mica Metallic, White Pearl Crystal Shine and Beige Mica Metallic remain same as the previous one.
With regard to Toyota Innova 2016, the already popular car would be raising the bar high when launched in the rapidly growing Indian market. At present, in the segment, the car tugs of a war with Renault Lodgy, Honda Mobilio and Maruti Ertiga.
