Fiat has launched the much awaited Abarth Punto EVO in the country at a price tag of INR 9.95 lac. Much to surprise, the company alongside the hot hatch also launched the Abarth Avventura at the same price tag. The Italian automaker has launched these vehicles in the festive season to get a lot out of it and grow in the market. As we can see that a new segment of hot hatches has been emerging in the country. Polo GT is considered as the first hot hatch to gain some popularity in India, but the new Abarth Punto has certainly raised the bar high and will make space for more competitors to jump in.
Talking about the aesthetics, on the outside, new Abarth Punto EVO gets similar hatch like body structure but it receives some cosmetic updates as well. The car is sporty looking with its front having radiator grille with chrome surround, inside the grille it gets red accents in the strip. Further, it features big fog lamps with thick metallic surrounds and the company’s Abarth logo placed at the top of the bonnet.
On the side, Abarth Punto features door panels having decals and lower section of the vehicle having Abarth lettering. The vehicle rides on the attractive 16-inch scorpion alloy wheels with Abarth embedded on it. The rear sports LED brake lights, bumper with body color and reflectors. On the dimension front, Abarth measures about 3989 mm in length, 1687 mm in width, 1505 mm in height and the wheelbase of 2510 mm.
Stepping inside, the new Abarth Punto EVO is reminiscent of the standard Punto except a few changes. The hottest hatch receives all black color scheme that looks quite impressive, the steering wheel is three spoke with control switches mounted on it and its tilt adjustable. The seats are covered with black premium upholstery with contrasting red and yellow stitching on the covers. Another interior comfort is air conditioning unit, CD player, high-quality speakers and radio tuner. For safety, it further receives dual front airbags, engine immobilizer, anti-lock braking system, security alarm system. High mount stop lamp and automatic door locks.
Under the hood, Abarth Punto EVO is powered by 1.4-litre T-Jet turbo motor that can generate the power output of 145 bhp and peak torque of 212 Nm. The car can go from 0-100 kmph mark in mere 8.8 seconds while the vehicle further provides the fuel economy of 16.3 kmpl.
While on the other hand, the newly launched Abarth Avventura receives a sporty outer profile, the vehicle features new radiator grille, stylish bumpers, and LED brake lights with turn indicators. It also features LED fog lamps that provide the car with the dynamic front profile. On the side, it gets a new set of alloy wheels and various other aspects. On the rear, it sports Scorpion logo for Abarth high-performance vehicles and also a T-Jet badge on the boot lid.
Avventura gets attractive cabin that features metallic accents on dashboard and fabric roof lining. The seats are wrapped with leather upholstery while they are very comfy as well. It gets head restrain adjustable feature, power steering wheel multi-functional switches mounted on it. Other features included in the vehicle are advanced infotainment system that includes touchscreen display that supports CD charger and connectivity.
Mechanically, it works on the similar 1.4-litre T-Jet engine that can deliver the power output of 140 bhp and can go from 0-100 kmph in mere 9.9 seconds. The mill comes mated to 5-speed manual transmission.
