2016 Mini Cooper Convertible is all prepared to make the enthusiasts more excited. The company has pulled off the covers and revealed the images of Mini Cooper Convertible to increase the thrill among the auto buffs. The Mini Cooper in the previous two years has managed to gain much of the popularity due to its eye catchy design. But this time it has created furore as it has been produced in the new ragtop form. The car is currently being showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show.
The new Mini Cooper Convertible will go on sale in U.K in the year 2016 while in India it will make its debut later in 2016. The main attraction of the mini cooper convertible is it's fully electric roof which is very much improved this time as compared to its previous model. It gets advanced rollover protection system with single piece roll bar that equips sensors to detect the potential rollover keeping the occupants safe inside the car. The new mini cooper convertible will start retailing from next year March in the Cooper S and Cooper forms. This is the droptop vehicle based on front-drive BMW family platform and is also powered by BMW developed turbocharged 3 and 4 cylinder mills.
On the designing aspect, impact of the previous version can be seen in the new Mini Cooper with the same fabric roof, wide C-pillars and the same profile hardtop when raised. Further, the car can be partially peeled back, or fully retracted behind the occupants. While the roof action is fully electric and can be again automated and can be performed at the speed up to 18 mph. At the rear, tailgate still flips down while the base of the folding soft top can be lifted again to load the big size items. Chunky hoops behind the rear headrests are removed and rear visibility is improved. The 2016 Mini Cooper is available in 11 different color patterns including a new Caribbean Aqua hue (from the classic color palette) and the melting silver (recently introduced on the new Mini Clubman).
Inside the car, adaptive cruise control, parking assistance, variable drive models, head-up display and collision mitigation are some of the features in comfort and safety department. Optional attributes are the diamond stitching pattern for the seats and rain wrapping app that gives indications to the driver about different weather conditions.
Under the hood, mini cooper convertible will be powered by the 1.5-litre diesel that can deliver the power of 134 HP. On the other hand, it will get a 2.0-litre motor that can churn out the power output of 189 HP. Both the mills come coupled with 6-speed manual as well as automatic transmission options for the buyers to choose from.
Recently, the company launched 2015 Mini countryman in India at a price tag of INR 36.5 lac. The car gets an attractive front profile with cosmetic updates. The changes include new alloy wheels, new radiator grille, LED daytime running light and fog lamps. The car will come on Indian shores via CBU route.
Under the hood, the car works on the 2.0 liter four cylinder turbocharged diesel mill that can generate the power output of 112 bhp and peak torque of 270 Nm. The engine comes mated to 6-speed Steptronic transmission. Moreover, the vehicle can go from 0-100 kmph in mere 11.3 seconds and can attain a top speed of 181 kmph.
