Honda Motors recently dropped the covers off its 10th generation sedan Civic in North America. The company has further revealed that Honda Civic Type R too will soon be following the suit. Touted as one of the most ambitious makeover of Civic by Honda, the 10th generation sedan has specifically been designed keeping the fact in mind that Honda intends to suit the tastes of everyone as it will most probably sell in many countries. It will go on sale in the USA by the end of this year.

North America will be getting the first Civic Type R model, it will in fact, get for the first time, the five-door Civic hatchback, Coupe and Si models. It is not clear whether an India launch of Civic will happen or not but as per sources, the 9th generation Civic was spotted under production in its plant in Rajasthan, so there is hope of the 10th generation Civic coming to India in a couple of years.

The new Civic in comparison to the previous generation is both wider and lower in design. The new sedan is almost 2 inches wider, 1 inch lower and has a wheelbase which is 1.2 inches longer. The overall look is sportier than the previous version of Civic. The rear portion of the new Civic exudes immense exuberance with C-shaped taillights, the front portion is no less a stealer with more sporty looks and LED headlamps with daytime running lights. The roof of the new Civic too draws attention with its stylish looks.

Interiors of the new Civic will be offering a host of advanced features like the smartphone integration with the 7-inch high definition touchscreen infotainment. For the whiz kids, Civic has kept some cool toys connected to the advanced and intuitive features of the car. The new Civic has both the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto feature integrated.  The Apple CarPlay connects your iPhone to the built-in display and let's you make and receive calls on the go, help in navigation through voice supported Siri, play music and toggle through apps. It is compatible with iOS 8.4 and later and connects with iPhone 5.

Android Auto is simpler for people who are not much comfortable with technology and prefer straightforward design, it connects with Google Maps, Google Now, messaging, music and various other apps. It is less distracting and is compatible with Android 5.0 and higher.

Under the hood, it will come powered by a 2.0 litre 16 valve DOHC i-VTEC 4 cylinder motor and a direct injected and turbocharged inline 4 1.5 litre i-VTEC. Both the engines will be available globally and will come mated to either six-speed manual or continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).

On the safety front, the new Civic will have Honda Sensing suite which has advanced safety and driver assisted technology which includes Collision Mitigation Braking, Road Departure Mitigation and Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow.

Honda has not yet declared the price for the new Civic but as the launch date is getting near, we would soon know the pricing for the same, at least of the US market. That will certainly give us an idea about the Indian pricing as well.
