BENGALURU: In the wake of death of six-year-old Vikram at Bonsai Park, 30 installations at Lalbagh Botanical Gardens have been inspected by three teams. Fences, benches, old buildings, trees etc were checked and if anything found dangerous and not up to the mark, they were removed on the spot. These teams consisted of six to seven members, including horticulturists, engineers, gardeners and experts.
Photographs of installations have also been taken to map out the findings and implement the changes later.
Expert A N Yalappa Reddy was appointed to look for crucial trees. A snake and bee expert recced the park for safety of visitors. A detailed report will be submitted to higher authorities on Saturday. Recommendations will be implemented in next 10 days.

“We will also put more boards and make sure people are aware of the place they are in, and avoid going to restricted areas,” said Dr M Jagadeesh, Joint Director of Horticulture(Parks and Gardens). He also stressed that public should be more cautious when they are with children.
CCTV cameras are being installed at sensitive points. As of now, there are only six cameras near Glass House.

A first-aid vending machine has been installed near Glass House and 10 first-aid kits have been added. It has been observed that many guards do not speak Kannada and know only one language. Security guards will be changed and only those who can speak both Kannada and English will be recruited. As of Friday, Bonsai Park where Vikram(6), died still remained closed. “Engineers are verifying critical sculptures and are connecting the three-piece-sculptures with a lead wire by drilling holes,” said Jagadeesh.
The park will be opened in the next couple of days, he said.
