BENGALURU: As the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) is set to shift its campus from Bengaluru to Ramanagara, many services at the university have now gone online. This is being done to avoid inconveniences to students and stakeholders during the period of the move.
As a first step, payment of fees for examinations and affiliation will go online from the coming academic year.
Dr K S Ravindranath, Vice-Chancellor, told reporters on Tuesday, “We have adopted online mode of payments which is student- and institution-friendly. It will also bring transparency in financial matters of the university. As we have implemented online mode of payments, the fee amount collected by colleges will be directly credited to the university’s accounts.”
The university will also issue eligibility certificates online from this year. It is not just in administration, but the university is going digital even in evaluation. From now, students will not have to wait for the photocopy of their answer scripts.
Dr M K Ramesh, Registrar (Evaluation), said, “All these years, we used to send photocopies through courier. From here on students will get answer script photocopies through e-mail.”
Students earlier had to wait at least for 10 days to get their answer scripts, but now, it will be available in 24 hours.
After paper evaluation, if a student notices that an answer has not been marked, he/she can only submit a request to the university as the revaluation system has been withdrawn. A subject expert will go through the answer script to see if marks need to be awarded or not.
“We have introduced a system where each answer script of undergraduate students will be evaluated by two evaluators. If the difference is more than 15 per cent, then a third evaluation will be done and average from best of two will be considered. The same will be implemented for PG exams too, where evaluation will be done by four evaluators and an average of best of two will be considered,” said Dr Ramesh.
Engg dept to be shifted first
Talking about the shifting of campus, Vice-chancellor Dr K S Ravindranath said, as of now only the engineering department will be shifted. Construction will take more time as the land is under litigation.
He said the government had provided 216 acres at Ramanagara of which 145 acres was for health city and 71 acres for administrative block. Of this, 77 acres is under litigation.
