BENGALURU: AMID growing complaints of disturbance from pubs in residential areas, a senior citizen from JP Nagar 1st Phase intends to complain against a pub’s noise levels at night to Police Commissioner T Suneel Kumar. Dasharathi K V (65), a retired owner of an IT firm, began complaining of the noise levels to Gowtam, one of the owners of the pub, in December 2016. Dasharathi’s residence is opposite the pub. Although Gowtam too has numerous times assured him that the noise levels would be reduced, Dasharathi says he continues to get disturbed on a daily basis, especially on weekends. The music is played from an open terrace.

The senior citizen said one of his neighbours, also a senior citizen, moved out of the house as he could not bear the noise from the pub. “I cannot change my residence now as I am retired,” Dasharathi said.He initially informed the Puttenahalli police station about the issue. However, that did not affect the sound levels. “They just sent a patrol car at night, and were unable to do anything concrete,” he said. He then approached DCP (South) on September 11. As that too failed, he now plans to approach the Police Commissioner to lodge a complaint with him on Monday.

About two months ago, Gowtam came to Dasharathi’s house accompanied by sound engineers who measured the sound levels. “During the visit, Gowtam acknowledged that the sound was loud enough to cause disturbance and assured us that it would be reduced. But,there has not been any change in sound levels,” Dasharathi said. Over the past few years, residents of several areas, notably Indiranagar, have repeatedly complained about loud noise from pubs until late in the night.
