‘Platform work needs to be expedited’

Cleaning of the Cantonment railway station and its premises was organised by the Bengaluru Railway Division to mark the third anniversary of ‘Swachch Bharat’ on Sunday. 

BENGALURU: Cleaning of the Cantonment railway station and its premises was organised by the Bengaluru Railway Division to mark the third anniversary of ‘Swachch Bharat’ on Sunday.  While inspecting the concourse, platforms, tracks and circulating area of the station, A K Gupta, General Manager, South Western Railway, issued instructions to expedite the ongoing works for increasing the height of platform-1, according to a press release.

The platform work had been initiated a few months ago following repeated complaints from passengers that they struggled to alight from the train as the level of the platform was very low.  
Manjula, a contract cleaning staffer was awarded for excellence in maintaining the station clean. A K Gupta and R S Saxena, Divisional Railway Manager were among those who took part in the ‘Swachchta Hi Seva’ campaign. Volunteers from a private firm Jubilant Food Works also took part.
